Cult Expert + Survivor Advocate
Sarah is the creator of Let’s Talk About Sects, an independent podcast that has been running since 2017 and examines cults, high-control groups and coercive influence. For the podcast she has spoken to dozens of cult survivors, and her work is focused on ethical storytelling that is trauma-informed and respectful of those sharing their lived experiences. These interviews alongside many with psychologists, lawyers, adademics, service providers and other experts in the field have informed Sarah's own expertise in cult dynamics over almost a decade of doing this work. The podcast has been recognised with an Australian Podcast Award and an Ethical Media award, and was a Webby Award Honoree.
Sarah is also the author of Do As I Say (Pan Macmillan), has produced for ABC Radio National, and you may have heard her expertise on programs including All in the Mind, God Forbid, Studio 10, and Hack. She has spoken at events including a Modern Slavery Workshop for the NSW Anti-Slavery Commissioner at NSW Parliament House, two years running at Woodford Folk Festival, and convened a sold-out panel discussion for Vivid Sydney centring the voices of cult survivors.
